But isn't it rude to give someone a nice gift and then return one day to take it back? =/

Also, what if you didn't have the chance to even use the gift the universe gave you?

- It's the first nice spring day. you go for ice cream and the second you walk out of the store a stranger bumps you causing you to drop the ice cream. splat! sooo I'm returning this thing that I was just gifted? why would the universe even bother haha.

Or it's like if a person handed you a brand new i-phone and smacked it out of your hands a second later. </3

Haha this is actually an awesome and funny question. The way that you’re asking this is framed as if when other people are what we consider “rude” this is a bad thing, or if a gift is with us for a longer time that is better than it the gift is with us for a shorter time. This is not actually the case in any obvious way, and more importantly it’s outside of our control. And things outside of our control are no concern to us, as practicing Stoics. What is important or the only “good” is how we carry ourselves-our thoughts, intentions, actions. If someone knocks a phone out of our hands moments after that might indeed be a signal to stay away from that person in the future, but also a great opportunity and gift to practice patience and acceptance.

I see what you're saying. I guess what I mean is. the universe/life is being rude. (i hope it doesn't punish me for saying that haha). My two examples are more so metaphors I suppose.

I think the shortness in time just helps with my point.

The universe/life creates all these events that lead to me receiving this i-phone for someone to just quickly smack it out of my hands. So I've never really had the chance to "have it" when it quickly just "took it back". To me, it's like...why even bother doing all this? (I know we can really question the will of the universe/life) haha. and on top of that, it doesn't really feel like I am "returning it" if I've never really had it to begin with. just seems like a quick mean thing to do =/
